The sandwich's birthday is celebrated around the world annually on March 14. There is even a sandwich law that says, "A sandwich always falls butter down." It is believed that the sandwich was invented by Nicolaus Copernicus in the spring of 1520. It happened during the siege by the knights of the Teutonic Order of the Olsztyn Castle, the commandant of which was Copernicus.
