
Continuation of the history of the legendary Gomel team
In 1964, the football team from Gomel changed its name to Spartak, and in 1969 it received the name Gomselmash, in the same 1969, the club finished in second place in the first zone of the RSFSR class B and received the right to play in the Class A championship next season.
In 1973, Georgy Yartsev, who would later become a star of the Spartak Moscow club and the USSR national team, played for the first time for the main team of the club from Belarus. In addition, Yartsev will become a famous and successful coach in the nineties.
In 1980, the Gomel club was one of the six strongest teams of the 8th zone 2 of the Class A league. Then Leonid Kuchuk, a famous football player and coach in the future, played for the Belarusian team for the first time.
In 1995, the football club from Gomel was named Gomel.
