Initially, there was a Grivka settlement in Kazan. The same Goat Settlement is located next to it. Grivka was founded no later than the second half of the XVIII century by raznochintsy who moved out of Kazan. In 1776, there were 45 yards in it.
The Grivka settlement has long been famous for its herbalists. They prepared medicines from fragrant meadow herbs, for which patients from all over the city came here. Grivka and Kozya were famous for the fact that rope, sheepskin and candle production had been developing here for a long time. The products of these artisans could be purchased in shops on Prolomnaya Street, in the house of the merchant Shcherbakov (now house 7/10 on Bauman Street). The construction in 1825 of a bridge connecting Kazan with the left bank of the Kazanka River allowed the settlements located there, including Grivka, to be attached to the city.
Why the Mane? In the reference books of Kazan it is written that the settlement of Grivka was located among hayfields and swamps, where there was a small oblong hill - grivka. Hence the name.
Of the famous personalities, the writer Alexander Tarasov-Rodionov lived in the settlement.
