Forecasters say that for 70 years, winter in the Perm Region has become shorter by 3 weeks. Already, residents and Guests of Perm are looking forward to spring. Nevertheless, fans of winter outdoor activities still conquer the mountain peaks on their free weekends. There are over 40 active ski resorts and bases equipped with slopes in the Urals.
Alina Kuragina, Senior Booking Manager at AMAKS Premier Hotel Perm, is engaged in a sport that is gaining popularity - snowboarding. Alina has been standing on the "board" for 10 years. In honor of the Year of Sports held online, Alina shares her emotions, experience and advice to "beginners".
Alina, as the owner of a specialized education in the field of tourism, first stood on the "board" in her student years as part of participants in annual trips organized by the university department. Since then, he has regularly conquered the slopes of the Ural Mountains.
Snowboarding equipment is not the most affordable, but it can always be rented. Both professionals and those who plan to stand on the "board" for the first time will need special boots, a board, a helmet, waterproof mittens or gloves, a mask. It is not recommended to wear jeans on the slope, only a specially designed uniform: a waterproof jacket and trousers. Of course, if there are no plans to take the peaks of the mountains in wet pants. It is better to choose clothes for skiing with a membrane – it will not allow moisture to soak into the clothes. There is also no point in buying a skating board right away, when it is still unclear whether snowboarding will become an integral part of life. In this sport, protective equipment for knees, elbows and coccyx is very important to avoid serious injuries.
At least a couple of initial lessons with an instructor are required. There are many types of descents from the mountain, but they all have one thing in common – the ability to just stand on the "board". The instructor will not let you get injured in the first lesson and put an end to your snowboarding career. He will also explain the basics of snowboarding management and the importance of warming up before going down, which will also reduce the risk of injury.
At first, it is natural to be afraid of any, even the smallest slide, not to mention the large slopes. But snowboarding is a sport of overcoming oneself. Constant falls and rises are inevitable until the first results, which will not take long to wait if you set yourself a goal.
