Krasnodar Territory Week

As part of the "Year of National Culture" of the AMAKS Hotels&Resorts chain, last week was dedicated to the Krasnodar Territory, where the AMAKS Orbita Resort is located.

And by tradition we want to tell you some interesting facts about this amazing and unique region.

The mildest climate in Russia.

Krasnodar Krai is the warmest region in Russia. It is located between the equator and the North Pole — on the so-called "golden line". The climate here is temperate continental and subtropical, and the sun pleases more than 300 days a year.

Sochi is the longest city in Russia.

The total length of Sochi is 145 km.
There is no longer a city in Russia than Sochi. And in the world it is the second longest after Mexico City. The total length of Sochi is 145 km. Lots of beaches, clean and warm sea, stunning nature of the city, protected by mountains. This is a real nature park.

Utrish Dolphinarium.

This is the only dolphinarium in Russia, located in the open air, near Anapa. It was opened in 1992 in the village of Bolshoy Utrish — in the area of one of the unique nature reserves. It is famous all over the world for the fact that 18 species of junipers grow here.

Mysterious dolmens.

Unusual structures carved into the rocks or stacked separately attract millions of tourists. They are mainly located near Gelendzhik, in the vicinity of Sochi and Tuapse. Dolmens are considered a place of power. These structures, which have an entrance hole, or, as they say, a “portal”, are still a mystery to scientists. Many believe that these blocks of stone are capable of fulfilling desires. According to legend, if you snuggle up to the dolmen with a sore spot, you can heal very quickly.

The first well in Russia.

Krasnodar Krai is the oldest oil—producing region of Russia, the birthplace of the domestic oil industry. Oil production here began in 1864. The first oil well in our country was opened in the Kuban. In the vicinity of the village of Kievsky on the bank of the Kudako River there is a monument to the "Discoverer of oil in Russia".

Krasnodar is the “coldest” tea.

More precisely, it is one of the northernmost in the world, which is grown in industrial volumes, and the northernmost in Russia. The first tea plantation of Krasnodar tea with an area of 1,350 square meters was founded near the village of Solokhaul in 1901 by I. A. Koshman. He brought tea seeds from Chakva, a coastal region of Western Georgia. The plantation and the house of the farmer-breeder have survived to our time. In 1923, at the VDNH in Moscow, he received a gold medal "For the world's northernmost tea".

That's how it is, Krasnodar Krai.
