Today we will tell you about the main attraction of Gomel: THE PALACE AND PARK ENSEMBLE.


One of the oldest museum institutions of the Republic of Belarus. It consists of six museum objects. The buildings of the institution are architectural monuments of the XVIII-XIX centuries and are included in the State List of historical and Cultural Values protected by the state. The palace and park complex includes: the Rumyantsev and Paskevich Palace - an architectural monument of the late XVIII - mid XIX centuries, the chapel-tomb of the Princes Paskevich - an architectural monument of the neo-Russian style of the late XIX century, an administrative building, a "Winter Garden" and an observation tower, - architectural monuments of the XIX century, an ancient park - a monument of nature and landscape gardening art of the middle of the XIX century. During the year, the museum is visited by more than 300 thousand visitors, about 100 new exhibitions are organized annually, various events and concerts are held. Every year the museum's collection is replenished with new exhibits. The collection of the Gomel Palace and Park Ensemble Museum is one of the richest in the Republic of Belarus. The basis of the collection was memorial items from the collections of the Rumyantsevs and Paskevich. Despite the fact that this collection is small, it is the most significant in the republic, as it gives an idea of the decoration of rich noble estates of the late XIX century. The most interesting collections of the museum's funds are: memorial items of the Paskevich family; archaeological and numismatic collections; a collection of handwritten and old printed books; ethnographic; iconography and cult objects; marine organisms. A worthy place in the expositions and collections of the museum is occupied by materials about outstanding statesmen, military leaders, representatives of science, culture, education, whose life and activities were connected with the history of the region, as well as a collection of paintings by Gomel artists.
