One of the most majestic Orthodox churches in Belarus. It is an outstanding monument of mature classicism, one of the few that have survived to this day.
The temple is located on the high bank of the Sozh River. In spatial construction, the building is an example of cross-domed architecture. The height of the cathedral is 25 meters.
In the plan, it is an elongated four—pointed cross, with a short middle nave and small sacristy on both sides of the altar part (in the left is now the chapel of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God). The middle cross is crowned with a majestic dome on a high drum, which in the interior rests on four pillars with the image of the Evangelists. Four Doric six-column porticos at the ends and rows of semi-columns on the sides of the nave are crowned with a horizontal decorative composition. In the design of the facades, the main classical decorative elements are used: triglyphs on the frieze, semicircular sandricks of the drum window openings.
The idea of erecting the cathedral belonged to the owner of the Gomel estate, Count Nikolai Petrovich Rumyantsev.
