A city mansion of the beginning of the XIX century, which Homel residents call a HUNTING LODGE.
The mansion was built as a house for the summer residence of Count Nikolai Petrovich Rumyantsev in the Empire style on the basis of a wooden log house of a former store by order and at his own expense. The main facade is decorated with a six-column portico of the Doric order.
During the 1830s – 1919s, the mansion belonged to such families as the Krushevskys and Lisovskys. One of the representatives of the Krushevsky family, at one time was the mayor, and one of the city streets and the descent to the Sozh River was named after him. Its last owner was Irena Golynskaya (from Lisovskiye).
During the Soviet Union, various government organizations were located in the former mansion. The Emergency Commission and the city radio station were also here.
The Hunting Lodge is an important tourist attraction of Gomel. In addition, since 2002 it has been included in the List of historical and cultural values of the country. It has been assigned a second category of value.
Today, the former mansion houses the Museum of the History of the city of Gomel, which received its first visitors in the spring of 2009.
The museum unites exhibition halls, the total number of which is 7. They reflect the bedroom and dining room, study and living room, which were reconstructed in the spirit of a noble mansion. Here you can also get acquainted with the history of the city from the moment of the first settlement to the beginning of the last century. Exhibitions are constantly changing here, and many events are held.
Due to its location, as well as its rich history, it is an important object of visit for all those who are interested in the history of Gomel.
