The monastery, named after the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God, was founded in its modern form in 1993 at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul. However, its history dates back more than one century. In 1899, the Old Believers male Dormition Monastery, founded back in 1775, was converted to female Orthodox. It was located in the village of Chenki on the banks of the Sozh River near Gomel, and the sisters lived here according to the strict Sarov charter. Throughout the twentieth century, the monastery was closed more than once and brought back to life. And since 1993, once again the revived community has been operating as a monastery. The sisters are obedient, teach Sunday school, work in icon painting and sewing workshops. The monastery has two farmsteads – in the village of Bobovichi with the St. Nicholas Church and a house for sisters and in Chenka with a house church and a temple in honor of St. Nicholas. John the Baptist. The relics of the monastery are lists of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God and the Mother of God "The Sign", icons with the relics of John of Kormyansk and Euphrosyne of Polotsk. The monastery includes a holy spring, near which baths and a chapel are built.
